Solo pianist George Winston today released a new digital-only single, 'Silent Night -- A Benefit Single for Feeding America'. George's version of 'Silent Night', played in the New Orleans R&B solo piano style, was inspired by Joseph Byrd's arrangement on his 1976 album, A CHRISTMAS YET TO COME, and also by the playing of the New Orleans pianist, Professor Longhair (1918 -1980).

George was motivated to record 'Silent Night -- A Benefit Single for Feeding America', to help those affected by the cuts in the SNAP food stamp program, which started on November 1, 2013.

The new single is now available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and everywhere digital music is sold. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to FEEDING AMERICA, the nationwide network of food banks that feeds 37 million people, including 14 million children, and leads the nation in the fight against hunger.

This digital-only release, benefitting FEEDING AMERICA, is an extension of the on-going work George has been doing since 1986 to support local food banks -- donating 100% of his concert merchandise sales and sponsoring canned food drives for the local food bank at every venue he performs.

Starting in 1972, George has released 13 solo piano albums, including his popular seasonal releases DECEMBER, AUTUMN, WINTER INTO SPRING, and SUMMER; as well as FOREST, PLAINS, and MONTANA--A LOVE STORY; and his tribute albums LINUS AND LUCY--The Music of Vince Guaraldi, LOVE WILL COME--The Music of Vince Guaraldi Vol 2, and NIGHT DIVIDES THE DAY--The Music of The Doors.

George's latest full length album is 2012's GULF COAST BLUES & IMPRESSIONS -- A Louisiana Wetlands Benefit. 100% of his proceeds from this album, as well as 100%
of his proceeds from his 2006 GULF COAST BLUES & IMPRESSIONS --A Hurricane Relief Benefit, are donated to help raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and for restoring the ecologically essential Louisiana Wetlands.

George Winston is currently on tour for the month of December, performing in Colorado, Montana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota, and will continue on to the Southwest and the Northwest in 2014.
