The comic song "Potato" which is set to the tune of the Mexican Hat Dance is from Cheryl Wheeler's 6th album "Sylvia Hotel" (1999).
As a contemporary country-folk singer Wheeler's songs range from thoughtful ballads to irreverent songs about potatoes, pets, and the state of the world.
Admittedly, this song doesn't even remotely ressemble many of Wheeler's more poignant songs such as: Gandhi/Buddha, If it were up to me, Arrow, When Fall comes to New England.
Cheryl Wheeler is a gifted songwriter with a beautiful voice. She has been characterized as a "natural story teller with a fantastic sense of humor". Her music is worth checking out!
